It’s friday, friday, gotta get down to Hønefoss. It’s friday the 13th, fun fun fun.

Our last gig of the Filthy Bird mini tour, and we are sad it’s ending, yet we are also looking forward to going back to Liverpool.

We start the day with a good ol’ Norwegian breakfast. Bread, butter and cheese. Classic.

Norwegian breakfast

…then we chill in the sun. We are sunbeams after all.

Then we head off to Alfred to soundcheck. This is by far the largest stage we have ever performed on. We’re a little bit mega-stoked. Hope that friday the 13th won’t get in the way of anything… who are we kidding. of course it will..not.?

Alfred, Friday the 13th

We had a great time, and it was the perfect ending to our Filthy Bird Tour. The audience, though it was not a 100 people, were loud enough for 200 people. We enjoyed it a lot, and felt like rock stars. with ribbons.

Overall, this tour has been amazing, and we got far more out of it than anticipated. People have been so supportive, and we have met a lot of superheroes. It seems this country is full of them. Thank you so much to everyone who came to our gigs, and thanks to all the venues that let us play.

We will be back, Norway.

(Now, England – WE ARE COMING FOR YOU.)

4 sunbeams in a car = a weird sense of humour.

This is even more awkward. Here’s Marius’ attempt on a video blog from the car-ride.

I anticipate some dislikes on YouTube.

Anyway. Thursday we all go to Hønefoss, prepping for our last gig of the Filthy Bird mini-tour.
Marius likes the homemade bread a little too much, and Emily drinks tea with no milk (rebel).
Runar is chilling in the sofa with the guitar.

…the amounts of faces that guy can pull..

Wednesday. We get up “early” (in musician terms), and go down to Buddy Scene in Drammen where we meet a local news crew who film us as we start setting up. It’s almost not awkward at all, and despite me being a little silly and flaky as always, it turns out pretty decent.

NRK local news (fast forward to 12:00)

Later we head down to the NRK building to do a radio session. We play 2 acoustic songs (Shoulders and Yo Dove You Filthy Bird), and in the 3 minute long interview I manage to stutter and insult my mother a little. Good times.

After this we have to run straight back to Buddy Scene to soundcheck. When soundcheck is done we are already a bit beat, but we have a couple of hours to chill before the gig.

I write a song about my love of Emily & rehearsing, while Marius is playing something completely different in the background.

A decent amount of people came to see us in Drammen as well, and we had a lot of fun. Here’s a videoclip from one of our new old songs called “You Love it, Don’t You”. If you were wondering, the capo fail was “totally planned” – “it’s part of the charm” – as well as my weird, completely out of time-foot movements.

(Yes Sheldon, that was sarcasm).

Thank you so much everyone. Hope to be back soon.

Stay tuned for more.

It’s tuesday morning, and we’re already halfway through our “Filthy Bird”-mini tour. Today we have the day off, and we pack our bags and drive to Drammen, to visit Andreas&co. We had waffles and Emily politely pretends to like brown cheese. It was nice and chill, except for being forced to play TP – Beatles. And I only say that because I lost. Big time.

Tomorrow there will be action in Drammen. Are you ready?

Oslo, jeg elsker deg!!

Today was awesome.

Why?

Well, first of all, there is a backstage at Herr Nilsen.

Backstage @ Herr Nilsen

… and they have Bamsemums (chocolate bears)!!! And grapes, fruit and drinks.
Emily likes grapes.A lot.

Backstage, with loyal groopies/roadies.

Second, it was packed, and people were happy. (including us).

Hal accepts the service.

Third of all, we met Heddy. Won’t go into details, but let’s just say she’s one of the most entertaining 60-year old women I’ve met. This picture says it all.

Heddy

Here’s a clip from the concert, with me speaking Norwegian (hard to get used to) and the band performing “Elephant”.

Thank you so much, to everyone who came. And thank you Herr Nilsen! We will be back!

Love,
Synne Eileen & the Sunbeams

Come watch us at Herr Nilsen! (Emily speaks Norwegian)

Yes, ladies and gents. Tonight is the night we have all waited for. It’s monday the 9th of April, the 2nd day of easter, and tonight we are playing at Herr Nilsen, at 21:00.

Be there or be square!! :)

Brrr!!!

Today was eventful in many ways. We woke up to sunshine, and after breakfast, we decided to explore Fredriksten Festning. We had some time to kill before soundcheck. Besides, there’s nothing like posing with a few canons to boost your spirits.

Marius is liking his newfound power.

Andreas tries to climb but fails.

Band of hipsters.

This is how it’s done.

Later on, we soundcheck at Sjøbris. It’s a nice outdoor seafood-restaurant by the harbor. Soundcheck is good (creds to Halvor Diesen). We’re slightly nervous, but mostly excited.
The place is packed by the time we enter stage.
(I forgot to ask our lazy photographer to take pictures, so naturally he didn’t.)

Overall, this was a perfect start on the tour. It was by far one of our best gigs ever, musically. Outdoor-gigs are a summer-thing for a reason though, and summer does not occur in Norway til mid-may. So early april is a challenge. Let’s just say I’m looking forward to perform without having to wear my coat tomorrow.

Now, the Filthy Bird tour officially starts. This morning we headed off to Halden where the Sunbeams were reunited once again, and we spent the day rehearsing and checking out the townlife of Halden. It’s basically one street, but very cosy. Accomodation is sorted on courtesy of Magne Rekstad, who runs a hostel and the restaurant we’re performing in tomorrow.

Rehearsal in Halden

rehearsing in a conference room is serious business.

This is Marius, pre-coffee. In his half-asleep state he’s trying to figure out what instrument he is looking at.

It’s Friday, and I’m off to the airport to pick up Emily. As she’s the only non-Norwegian in the band, the rest of us are already in the land of the Vikings for easter break. Today, she’s bringing her Yorkshire Tea- classiness to the land of brown cheese.

On the way from the airport, Emily is introduced to “boller”, and decides she doesn’t hate it. She is then introduced to roads, more roads, trees, rocky roads, more trees, more roads, a small village and more trees, tunnels, roads and finally we’re at my house.

We are ready to rock it. Tomorrow: HALDEN.
